Woodlands Checkpoint Traffic

Causeway

Woodlands Checkpoint is Singapore's northern land crossing into Johor Bahru, connected by the Johor–Singapore Causeway. It is the busier of the two crossings and links directly to the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) on the Singapore side.

The cameras below come from LTA's live traffic feed and refresh continuously, so you can see the queue in both directions — Singapore to Johor, and Johor back into Singapore — before deciding when to leave.

Queues build most heavily on Friday evenings, weekends, school holidays and public holidays, and around the start and end of the working day in both directions. If the Causeway looks heavy, the Second Link at Tuas is often the faster crossing despite the longer drive.

Woodlands Checkpoint — common questions

How busy is Woodlands Checkpoint right now?+

The live cameras on this page show the current queue at the Causeway in both directions, updated continuously from LTA's traffic camera feed. The estimated travel times beside each direction give a sense of how long the approach roads are taking.

What time is Woodlands Checkpoint least busy?+

Traffic is generally lightest late at night and in the early hours of the morning, and on weekday mid-mornings and mid-afternoons outside the commuter peaks. Friday evenings, weekends, school holidays and public holidays are consistently the heaviest periods in both directions.

Is Woodlands or Tuas faster?+

It depends on the day and the time. Woodlands is closer to Johor Bahru city centre and to most of Singapore, so it carries far more traffic and queues more often. Tuas Second Link is a longer drive from both cities but frequently moves faster during peak periods. Comparing the live cameras for both crossings before you leave is the most reliable approach.

Is Woodlands Checkpoint open 24 hours?+

Yes, Woodlands Checkpoint operates 24 hours a day, though clearance times vary considerably with the volume of traffic.
